What's inside?

Il Cascinone ‘Fontanino’ Riesling

Lovely, pinpoint sharp acidity with lovely richness at the finish too; top-notch Riesling that would be a perfect companion to a nice Pad Thai.

Il Cascinone ‘Campo Fiorito’ Chardonnay

One of my favourite whites of the year. Just a little bit of oak ageing adds texture, which gives the wine a wonderful mouthfeel. The acidity is perfectly balanced, and there is delicious weight of fruit; it’s so superbly elegant, and I would happily put this up against white Burgundy, but this wine is far, far better value. A cracker.

Il Cascinone ‘Crocera’ Barbera d’Asti

The first wine I bought from this producer, and still a wine which punches so far above its weight. Rich and bold but with a solid backbone, making it a terrific accompaniment to a rich, meaty stew.

Il Cascinone ‘Rive’ Barbera d’Asti

This wine is absolutely on fire right now, a full-on bear-hug of a wine. Rich, hedgerow fruit with a touch of soft spice and a long, complex and comforting palate. A quite simply stunning wine, and what is more remarkable is the fact that a wine as stylish as this just happens to be 15% ABV. I only mention that because it doesn’t taste like a massive wine, so you could end up getting a little overexcited drinking it!

Il Cascinone ‘Cascina Nuova’ Nizza

Nizza has only been a DOCG since 2014, and this is the first Nizza from this property. 100% Barbera with 18 months in oak. The wine carries that marriage of richness and acidity which marks out Piemontese Barber, but it also has a wonderful wild edge. A little cracker.

Il Cascinone ‘d’Anonna’ Barbera d’Asti

I managed to get hold of a whole chunk of this for an absolute steal at the beginning of last year, and if you managed to get your hands on some, then you’ll know exactly how epic this wine is. Layer after layer of lovely, fresh, texture, rich, rustic spicy fruit, and whilst it’s pretty blooming epic drinking right now, you could also pop some in the cellar for a few years and be very richly rewarded.
