–
The wines we sell don’t come off a never-ending production line, so there is always a tiny chance that one of the wines in the curated cases drops out of stock. If this happens, we will replace the missing wine with one of similar style and always a higher value; we don’t want you to lose out here.
What's inside?
Casa Vila Nova Vinho Verde, Vinho Verdo
Taste-bud tingling perfection from northern Portugal. So crisply invigorating with steely freshness, bright fruit and then that tell-tale tingle on the tongue which makes Vinho Verde such a summer favourite.
Vallegre Colheita Branco, Douro
A classic Douro white with beautifully balanced white wine with vibrant, fresh aromas of citrus fruits and green apple, accompanied by subtle floral notes. On the palate, it offers a crisp and refreshing acidity, harmoniously blending with flavours of ripe pear, lemon zest and a hint of minerality.
Herdade de Grous, Alentejo
A passion for the vine is married to a state-of-the-art winery and cellar, which turns all of this high-end viticulture into truly world-class wines. Produced from native Portuguese varieties, Antao Vaz, Arinto and Gouveio, with each component separately vinified. A delightful gold-green colour with intense freshness and lifted tropical fruit aromas. The palate is rich with citrus fruit notes at the edges and well-balanced acidity. Outstanding.
Krohn Tinto, Douro
Produced from indigenous varietals grown on schist soil in the Rio Torto Valley. The vines are 30-40 years old and produce small bunches of beautifully concentrated fruit. This is then hand-harvested and destemmed before vinification, and then part of the wine is aged in oak. The result is a wine which balances juiciness and weight of flavour with a very approachable palate weight.
Bacalhoa Touriga Nacional, Dao
Bright and inviting aromas of blackcurrant and bramble fruit, and fresh herbs. What’s so appealing about this wine is the well-judged, balanced, subtle tannins, which are really well integrated with bright acidity and an appropriate seasoning of oak and this juicy, persistent, fresh fruit character. They’ve done something often missing in Portuguese red wines, and have produced a wine with good intensity, but one that’s very fresh rather than showy.
Paco do Conde Alicante Bouschet, Alentejo
Grapes are only one of many crops grown on this 4000-hectare sprawling estate, which is one of the oldest in Portugal. The vines thrive in this rich polyculture, and the quality of the fruit is borne out by this fabulous wine. A deep, brooding red, which spends 12 months in oak, it has an immediacy to it that only encourages you to keep going back to explore the many facets of this intriguing drop.
