DESCRIPTION:Flint Vineyard began with co-founder and Head Winemaker Ben Witchell’s passion for great wine. After leaving a career in IT\, Ben earned a top Oenology degree and honed his skills in Beaujolais\, blending precision with creativity. Back in the UK\, he partnered with landowner Adrian Hipwell to establish Flint in South Norfolk\, one of the country’s sunniest\, driest regions. \nWith over 35\,000 vines and a cutting-edge winery\, Flint has become known for bold\, expressive wines—and they’re not standing still. This year they planted an additional 25 acres\, doubling last year’s holdings\, with plans to double again. They’re also at the forefront of innovation\, especially in their use of Piwi grape varieties like Solaris\, Bacchus\, Seyval Blanc\, and Sauvignon Blanc. These varieties are naturally resistant to fungal diseases\, allowing for a significant reduction in pesticide use.  \nDan Kirby is Brand Ambassador for Flint as well as Head of Sales & Marketing. Dan is also currently studying to be a Master of Wine\, with over 15 years of experience this will be an evening showcasing just how exciting English wines have become.

DESCRIPTION:We are absolutely overjoyed to be joined by the lovely Günter Engelbert (I love that name!) from Salzl wines in Austria for what promises to be one of the tasting highlights of the year. Austria has such a rich heritage of winemaking and yet goes a little under the radar these days but it is producers\, like the excellent Salzl\, that are putting it back on the map. We’ve been selling for the Salzl wines for a few years now and they are nothing short of brilliant and so it’s a real treat to have them showcase to you exactly what it is that we are so excited about. A delicious mixture of white and red wines and a thoroughly modern look at Austrian wine.

DESCRIPTION:Our most popular tastings of 2025\, so we had to bring them back! And\, yes\, they are always different wines from previous Spot the Difference tastings so you can come to as many as you like! \nI often hear the refrain “Well I wouldn’t know the difference between expensive wine and everyday wine.” I’ve never believed this to be true\, I think we all have an inbuilt ability to see quality but I thought maybe it merited a vinous experiment. So this tasting will be a simple comparison between two wines in the same style but at very different price points. The trick to ensuring that this actually feels somewhat scientific is that it will be a blind tasting. \n5 pairs of wines\, each pair tasted side by side with a little background info on both from me but no indication as to which is the pricey one and which is the midweek value*. Ten terrific wines\, one superb evening. \n*My idea of midweek value wines is pretty decent gear at a sensible price and not a bottle of 19 Crimes\, as such it’s going to be all about flavour.

In recent years\, the range has grown steadily with vineyards being developed in northern Veneto too\, around Conegliano. A fabulous marriage of tradition and innovation. \nWe have been very fortunate to have Edoardo host a wine tasting before and he is amazing\, his knowledge is undisputed and if it’s possible he talks even more than Rob does!
